In the Kitchen
What's the next new appliance for the kitchen?
Come on now think -- what's next?
We've got the refrigerator/freezer, the microwave, the stove, the garbage disposal.
[Don't look at the answer -- think hard.]
It's the home tissue culture unit. Pop in a frozen sample the size of a pea. Wait a couple of weeks -- and, incredible -- you get 2 pounds of zebra kidney or hummingbird tongue.
And it's cheap (oil converted to bacteria which is then converted to proteins). All the basic proteins we eat will cost the same. It requires a good phagocytic system to clean up anything that could go wrong -- But just wait 20 or 25 years -- the Box will be as much a part of the kitchen as the refrigerator or the stove.
Of course the FDA and Good Housekeeping will have to put their seal of approval on it -- but this is a mere formality (unless of course you work for the FDA or Good Housekeeping). Talk about new recipe books -- stand back. In 20 or so years, Jonnie's lunch box (like most other kids) will have a sandwich as unique as anything you could imagine.
And -- What will the people then (in 2028) say about us -- about you and me today -- They'll say: "Can you believe how much hamburger they ate?"
